1877-S
Hub Combo: Type 2/2
This is the most common date and is easily found in all conditions. These coins will likely trade at about a 30-40% discount to non-chopped examples. There are several interesting varieties but many common coins through which one must sift. All examples have obverse two and reverse two.

Variety: FS-301 Repunched Date
This variety shows a repunch of the second 7 in the date to the naked eye. High grade examples will also show minor doubling of the mintmark. The variety is somewhat scarce but there are likely a number in unattributed holders which may be purchased for no premium over the common date.

Variety: FS-801 Doubled Die Reverse
This is a legitimately rare variety with dramatic doubling across most of the top of the reverse. The true population is unknown but an estimate of 5-6 coins should not be very inaccurate. It should command a sizable premium if the seller is aware of the variety.

Variety: FS-802 Doubled Die Reverse
This is an easily identified and not very difficult variety to find. The most obvious pickup point is the large die lump above the bottommost arrow. While the doubling is interesting and noticeable, the variety commands little to no premium.

Variety: Broken Arrows
This variety is easily identified by its name. Once one begins looking, the coins will show up fairly frequently in problematic XF or AU. Mint state coins are very scarce. This variety does not command much, if any, premium at this time.
